Job Description & Person Specification >
Want to make a positive difference to young people’s lives? Enjoy direct work with young people? Join our well-established Care Experienced Team as a Personal Advisor.
We are currently looking for a Care Experienced Personal Advisor on a fixed term contract for 6 months to work 14.8 hours per week.
We support care-experienced young people to achieve the best possible start in their adult life by helping them develop their independence skills, including support with peer and family relationships, finding and maintaining suitable accommodation, fulfilling their plans and goals around education and employment, supporting them with budgeting, and keeping safe, well and healthy.
The role is primarily focused on working with 18-25 year olds, but there are increasing opportunities for joint working with our Cared for Children teams, supporting young people aged 16 – 18 who are still in our care, to prepare them for independent living and adulthood. Working directly with young people, their carers, support workers and colleagues in housing, education and health, you will be crucial in developing, implementing and reviewing personalised plans of support (Pathway Plans), agreed in partnership with the young person.
Many of our young people live in and around Torbay but some young people live in other parts of the country; the ability to travel is essential. We would particularly welcome applications from those living in and around London.
You can look forward to being part of a service underpinned by a career defining Learning Academy. From the day you join us you can expect to receive high quality training to boost your knowledge, skills and professional development.
The Learning Academy prides itself on being there for all children’s services colleagues at every level. The Learning Academy is delighted to work in partnership with South Devon College and The Open University to offer apprenticeship opportunities such as the Social Work Degree Apprenticeship and Working with Children, Young People and Families.

This position is for a fixed term of 6 months from the start date.
