We are looking to appoint a female Teacher of Girls' PE & Games (Maternity Cover) from February half-term 2025 (earlier if available). It is an occupational requirement that the successful candidate be female. Essential to this position is a Girls' Hockey specialism and either a BA QTS or a BSc Sport Science and PCGE qualification, as well as a proven ability to teach across the entire age range. Desirable for this position is a UKCC Level 2 in Coaching qualification in any of Hockey, Cricket, Tennis and/or Netball, as well as a current qualification in First Aid. Experience of teaching AQA GCSE PE would also be an advantage.
There will be no position of responsibility associated with this position, although all teaching staff should expect to be allocated a Form Teacher role as part of their responsibilities. We are, unfortunately, unable to accept ECTs for this position.
The successful candidate should be able to inspire and motivate pupils across the school through a diverse range of learning styles and be able to offer pastoral care, particularly to the girls in their care. They should be able to work on ad hoc Saturdays and Sundays for sporting fixtures, as well as for periods during school holidays for match tours or other school trips. Involvement with these latter responsibilities will particularly suit a teacher with strong organisational and communication skills.
The PE department at Harrodian is the largest in the school and teaches PE & Games across the entire age range from Reception through Year 13. Working hours
Mondays 08:00-17:00, Tuesdays to Fridays 08:15-17:00 during term-time.
