Heritage is for everybody, and we are here for heritage. We are looking for a Membership Recruiter to join us at Osborne, working 18 hours per week from April to October, switching to a zero-hour contract from November to March.
No history background? No problem. What is important to us is a passion for people and excellent customer service. You will enjoy working with others as part of a team and understand what makes excellent customer service to deliver an engaging visitor experience to a diverse audience.
Osborne welcomes around 300,000 visitors a year who come to explore the estate to find out more about this former royal holiday home for Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, and their family.
By joining us as a Membership Recruiter, you will be part of an amazing team of employees and volunteers, ensuring visitors have a great time from the moment they arrive until they say goodbye. You will deliver a warm welcome and engage visitors to inspire them to become members of English Heritage.
If you have a genuine enthusiasm for engaging with people and providing an outstanding welcome, this could be the role for you.
Some paid or voluntary experience with the public is beneficial, but full training and support are provided. There will be a requirement to work weekends and Bank Holidays.
Benefits include:
1. The opportunity for career progression within the heritage sector in retail, food and beverage or general management
2. Opportunities to attend live music and history events
3. Free access to all English Heritage sites for you and up to six friends and family members
4. 25% discount in our shops and cafes
5. Enhanced maternity/paternity/shared parental leave
6. 25 days' holiday plus Bank Holidays pro rata, rising to 28 days after 3 years
7. Options to buy additional leave
8. Matched pension contributions up to 10%
Everybody's welcome at English Heritage. We are committed to making sure that English Heritage is an equitable, diverse, and inclusive place to work.
If you would like to talk to us before you apply, please contact Rachel Prewer, Visitor Welcome Manager, on rachel.prewer@english-heritage.org.uk. No agencies please.
Our interview and offer process will take place between 17th February - 10th March 2025, with new starters joining in the week of 24th March 2025.
