The Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) Research and Development (R&D) Engineering Graduate Programme is targeted at graduates from a variety of pathways and developing them over a two-year period to be able to fulfil professional roles available within the organization. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a team at the forefront of emerging technologies, contributing towards the fight for a more sustainable future.
The graduate programme is structured around placements in working departments where you will be integrated into the team and learn through experiencing the day-to-day activities. These will be supplemented by a pair of shorter placements in remote locations aimed at improving your appreciation of other teams and their work.
Following successful completion of the graduate training you will have an opportunity to apply to join one of our engineering teams:
* Systems Engineering & Projects
* Power Electronics & Systems
* Converter Control
* Software, Modelling and Control
* Product Support
* Generator Design and Control
Some of the type of work you will have the opportunity to be involved in during the programme include:
* Design and engineer the component down to detail to satisfy the specified requirements of the customer
* Define the products and subcomponents to be used including their characteristics and requirements
* Develop detailed solutions for the system integration of the individual elements as a functioning unit
* Take responsibility for the realization of the component with the required functionality and prepare the design documentation
* Work as a team member with other members of the UK R&D team and wider engineering team
* Maintain internal and external contacts at all levels
* Research into new and emerging technologies
* Evaluate potential technical solutions and evolve them into design solutions
* Liaise with suppliers
* Produce detailed technical specifications for procured items
* Validate components/equipment in laboratory/wind turbines
* Create system models and utilize them to perform simulations
* Control system design and implementation
* Software design, coding, and testing
* Work under the supervision of senior professional engineers in the design of power hardware, software, and control solutions to meet specifications
What you need to make a difference
A passion for renewable energy and a sense of urgency to lead the change. You will have a minimum 2:1 degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Sciences or be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge in the electrical engineering domain.
You will also have:

You will also be happy to work at either of our three sites across the UK: Keele, Glasgow, and Sheffield. You will be expected to attend the office on a weekly basis under our hybrid working policy.
