Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and computer literate ward clerk, who will be part of a hardworking, busy but efficient team. They need to be able to work independently and also within a small group of ward clerks. Duties include working within our extremely busy SDEC Clinic and AMU Reception. Assisting staff, patients & relatives.

Main duties of the job
To support with clerical and administrative duties in the day to day running of AMU and our Same Day Emergency Care Clinic.
To be part of a hardworking and efficient multidisciplinary team, acting as an initial point of contact for patients, families and external teams visiting the ward. Assist in answering telephone calls, liaising with patients and their families, keeping diaries up to date in SDEC Clinic and maintaining up to date information on Trust systems and problem solving.

Job Description
Job responsibilities
1. Welcome patients and visitors to the ward, answering appropriate questions and providing any relevant information in a sensitive manner, referring to qualified members of the team as necessary.
2. Undertake clerical and administrative duties on behalf of the ward.
3. Liaise with individual team members and other departments as required, in a manner that will contribute to the effective and efficient running of the ward.
4. Work within our extremely busy SDEC Clinic to ensure that notes are created and ready for same day patients & ensure that the diary is up to date. You may be required to call and liaise with patients about attending certain tests or appointments.
5. To arrange for the repair of faulty ward equipment. To deliver post to patients.
6. Answer the telephone and deal with enquiries in a courteous manner.
7. To open and sort incoming mail and distribute to relevant personnel for action.
8. To use computer for inputting and accessing general patient information on Trust computer systems such as Ecamis, EPR, Agyle, Electronic Diary and Health of the Ward.
9. To assist with other duties that may reasonably be required.

Qualifications Essential
* GCSE (or equivalent) English and numeracy

* Competent in the use of IT; basic computer skills
