Rotational Post for Elective Orthopaedics and Trauma Orthopaedics - Leicester General Hospital and Leicester Royal Infirmary
One permanent post, 37.5 hours per week. (Part time/Flexible/Bank may be considered).
Are you an experienced Band 5 or an existing Band 6 interested in working in Orthopaedics? We have an exciting opportunity available to recruit to a yearly rotational post between Elective and Trauma orthopaedics. This is a permanent contract.
Main Duties of the Job
In Elective Orthopaedics, the caseload is a combination of patients who have had joint replacement surgery, upper and lower limb surgery, spinal surgery, and some Trauma cases. The team provides a service to two wards, a pre-assessment clinic, and day-case patients. The Elective service has implemented the Leicester Enhanced Arthroplasty Pathway (LEAP) to assist in reducing length of stay.
In trauma, there are three inpatient trauma wards including a spinal ward and a dedicated fractured neck of femur ward. Applicants must be able to manage a varied and complex clinical caseload, undertaking functional assessments and interventions to facilitate safe and effective discharge planning. You will demonstrate sound communication, prioritization, and organizational skills within a large multidisciplinary team. The Trauma team is based at the Leicester Royal Hospital.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic team player who will be actively involved in service improvement. Your personal development will be supported through appraisal, in-service training, and regular clinical supervision with a senior colleague. Alongside the other Band 6 OT, you will be required to support our rotational Band 5's, Technical Instructors, and OT Assistant and to deputize for the Clinical Specialist OT to ensure the smooth running of the team.
You will be required to work on our weekend roster, including bank holiday rosters.
