About Us
Our mission is to create remarkable schools where no child is left behind. Established in 2013, we are a well-respected local school trust, completely committed to our inclusive and ambitious mission. We are different from many trusts in that we are diverse in composition; 10 schools: primary, secondary, and special, which gives us a unique feel as we learn so much from one another. We want our students to love learning and be well placed to do something great with their lives, and our values of enjoy, learn, succeed reflect this.
We are ambitious for all our children, and we are determined that all can succeed. We value our teams and are committed to the professional development of all. We are proud of the clarity that we have as expressed in our principles of alignment and the value that we place on individual and school diversity.
This Trust is determined that everyone has the power to lead and that we serve our local community in action as well as words. All our leaders are committed to being supported and challenged to be better tomorrow than they are today and are genuinely excited about the next phase in our journey to remarkable.
Why Choose Beckfoot Thornton
We are a large 11-16 community secondary school, judged as Good in all areas by Ofsted in September 2023. Supported by our trust central team, we have been on a rapid journey to remarkable and we are very proud of what we have achieved so far. Visitors always comment on how calm and purposeful our school is; this is a place where teachers can teach, and learners can learn. We keep things simple to reduce cognitive load.
We are committed to being a People First organisation – our recognition and value of staff reflects this. We are currently exploring ways of being even more flexible to benefit our employees and, as a result, our students. We have an active People First Staff Voice Group and a reverse mentoring scheme for senior leaders.
Our school sentence (underpinned by our values of enjoy, learn, succeed) sums up what we are striving for; we do whatever it takes every day to ensure that students acquire the knowledge, build the cultural capital, and develop the character to live their best lives.
Beckfoot Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed for all applicants as part of our overall vetting checks.
