Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to be a member of a professional team that provides comprehensive, high quality waiting list management services for the University Hospitals Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will be responsible for the management of a team managing a number of waiting lists within the surgical specialties operating Trust wide in accordance with Government Access Standards, NHS Constitution and the Trust’s Patient Access Policy ensuring efficient and effective use of theatre and procedure sessions.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to work as part of the Waiting List Office Team and will build relationships with key staff to ensure that the team contributes effectively to the common goal of providing an efficient and reliable service for patients. The post holder will monitor and manage theatre sessions ensuring that all lists are efficiently utilised and that any capacity issues are escalated in a timely manner to the Patient Coordination Manager. The post holder will ensure that at all times the principles of our values are upheld and they are an ambassador for the Trust by being caring, helpful, open & honest and demonstrating high levels of teamwork.
The post holder will need to be open, honest and approachable. They must be able to demonstrate skills and abilities to motivate the Waiting List Office team and work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary staff. The post holder must be flexible in their approach.

Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Education & Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
* NVQ 3 in Administration or equivalent experience
* ECDL or equivalent
Experience
* Experience of waiting list management within the NHS or equivalent
* Experience of managing, developing and training a team.
* Knowledge of data protection & confidentiality
* Experience of dealing and managing demanding situations
Skills, Ability & Knowledge
* Ability to prioritise and demonstrate effective time management and organisational skills.
