The difference you will make as a Financial Reporting Accountant
The Financial Reporting Accountant is a finance professional reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager. The role is responsible for the delivery of financial reporting across the Group and is accountable for statutory, regulatory and internal management reporting. The role will provide management and direction to the Financial Reporting team in carrying out a range of complex financial reporting activities, whilst fostering a continuous improvement culture across the wider Group Finance team.

* A recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
* Strong technical accounting skills.
* Experience of managing external audit.
* Experience in a finance management position, preferably within Financial Accounting or Reporting.

Role Profile
* Actively coach and manage the performance of individuals, to achieve the stated objectives of TRGL and positively impact on the customer of TRGL.
* Supervise and support the training and development of the Financial Reporting team.
* Deputise for and support the Financial Reporting Manager as and when required to ensure continued effective leadership across the service.
* Responsible for developing and maintaining robust accounting policies for the Financial Reporting team, ensuring compliance with FRS’s, SORP, IFRS and regulatory requirements.
* Devise, implement and review financial reporting processes and procedures ensuring compliance and adherence to statutory and regulatory frameworks and Group accounting policies.
* Act as a subject matter expert in financial reporting, providing advice and support to the team and wider Group Finance, ensuring financial accounting transactions reflect current accounting policies.
* Review and approve a range of complex journals prepared by the Financial Reporting team.
* Review and approve all balance sheet reconciliations performed by the Financial Reporting team ensuring that they are completed effectively and in accordance with specified timetables.
* Manage the provision of balance sheet reporting for the Group, ensuring that accurate and relevant information is provided from the wider Financial Accounting and Control team.
* Manage the provision of statutory reporting including the preparation of the consolidated financial statements for the Group.
* Manage the financial statements process for all Group subsidiaries to completion ensuring that all statements are reviewed for compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
* Support the Financial Reporting Manager in the delivery of the external audit of the Group and its subsidiaries.
* Prepare financial reporting year-end working papers, reconciliations, and audit information as required and in line with financial reporting and statutory requirements.
* Manage the provision of regulatory reporting, prepare regulatory reports for quarterly and annual submission to the Regulator of Social Housing.
* Assess the implications of changes in reporting standards and regulatory requirements and ensure that these are adopted in the most effective way for the Group.
* Assist with the preparation of accounting papers to support internal practices and liaise with external auditors to ratify these.
* Work closely with external tax advisors to manage the provision of Corporation Tax disclosures for the Group and its subsidiaries.
* Support the budget, quarterly forecast, and business plan processes, in particular for the preparation of Group cash flows and balance sheets with a high level of detail and accuracy.
* Manage the provision of monthly financial reporting for inclusion in Group management accounts.
* Responsible for providing accurate and timely information for covenant reporting to external lenders.
* Ensure the team provide accurate and timely advice, guidance and support to colleagues and other stakeholders as required.
* Ensure team processes and procedures are reviewed and updated as required.
* Actively contribute to regular reviews of the Financial Accounting function, seeking feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
* Manage internal and external stakeholders effectively, building constructive relationships to deliver the Financial Accounting service.
* Ensure that all data protection requirements are met in accordance with the Group’s policy.
* Ensure that health and safety requirements are met in accordance with the Group’s policy.

Person specification
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* A recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
* Strong technical accounting skills.
* Experience of managing external audit.
* Experience in a finance management position, preferably within Financial Accounting or Reporting.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and government regulations.
* Customer focused with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proactive approach with the capability to work flexibly and adapt to particular situations.
* Results driven with strong analytical skills.
* Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure, deliver to strict deadlines and manage conflicting priorities.
* Evidence of effective stakeholder management.
Desirable
* Previous experience within the sector.
* Good understanding of the SORP and FRS 102.
* Experience of Sun Systems.
* Strong audit experience, either internal or external.
Additional Information
* To fulfil the requirements of this role, you will be required to be on site at Head Office, Liverpool during planning, interim and year-end external audits.
* The Group has offices across the UK and there may be the requirement to travel to other locations.
* In order to fulfil the requirements of this role, you will be required to work flexibly during the hours of operation.
