The successful candidate will join 3 existing Palliative Medicine consultants employed by the Trust, forming a supportive team who provide inpatient and community care across the county, participating in a Cat A 1:7 on-call rota. This post is based at the Princess of Wales Community Hospital in Bromsgrove. The post-holder will provide Specialist Palliative care (SPC) advice to the population of Redditch and Bromsgrove, provide clinical leadership for the Community Clinical Nurse Specialist Team for the area, and consultant support for a 6-bedded SPC Advanced Clinical Practitioner led inpatient unit. Main duties of the job Lead consultant for the Redditch & Bromsgrove (R&B) community Clinical Nurse Specialist team including a weekly MDT meeting. Support and advice for the population of R&B. Includes domiciliary and outpatient consultations, remote consultations and telephone advice for patients and healthcare professionals. Consultant leadership for the 6 SPC inpatient NHS beds The Primrose Unit, including a twice weekly ward round to support care led by the specialist advanced clinical practitioner (ACP), with ad hoc advice to ward staff as needed. Consultant input into the Primrose Hospice fortnightly MDT meeting. Specialist palliative care advice for the Princess of Wales Community Hospital wards to support care led by ACPs and Trust employed doctors. Supervision of non-medical prescribers and medical and non-medical trainees, acting as educational/clinical supervisor as needed. Teaching and training of healthcare professionals.
