We are looking for a Nursing Assistant who loves a challenge. Ward F6 is an Emergency Surgery Ward, and we accept patients from Accident & Emergency, SAEC, and other wards around the trust.
We are a 33-bedded unit which consists of 5 bays and 3 SR's.
The ward is fast-paced and very busy. We have a mixture of patients on the ward, some of whom can be very sick and may need to go to theatre. We work closely with multi-disciplinary teams, including the pain team, colorectal nurses, palliative care, dieticians, and diabetes specialists.
F6 works together as a team, but you must also be able to work well on your own initiative.
Shift times are long days or nights: 07:00 - 19:30 or 19:00 - 07:30. You will be expected to work full-time, which includes 3 weeks of 3 long days/nights and a 4th week with 4 long days/nights. We are flexible with shift patterns.
You will work closely with the nurses on the ward, taking observations, assisting patients with washing, dressing, and all hygiene needs. Some patients may need assistance with eating and drinking, as well as manual handling when assisting with mobility needs.
You will be expected to use computer equipment, but all of this will be shown to you, and assistance will be provided. Communication and documentation are very important on the ward.
