We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Fire Door Inspector - SO1 to join our team, dedicated to ensuring the safety and compliance of fire protection systems in various buildings. The Fire Door Inspector will play a crucial role in assessing and maintaining the integrity of fire-rated doors, contributing to the overall fire safety measures within our communities. This position requires extensive knowledge of fire safety regulations, inspection techniques, and the ability to identify potential hazards associated with fire doors. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections of fire doors to ensure they adhere to industry standards and local building codes. You will be tasked with preparing detailed reports on each inspection, providing recommendations for repairs or replacements, and working closely with construction teams and property managers to ensure any issues are resolved promptly. As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe environment, you will also be responsible for educating clients and teams about the importance of fire door compliance and best practices. This role demands a proactive approach, strong communication skills, and excellent attention to detail to ensure that all fire doors are functioning correctly and that fire safety standards are upheld.
Responsibilities
Conduct thorough inspections of fire doors in various facilities to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
Document inspection findings, prepare reports, and communicate issues to the relevant stakeholders.
Evaluate the condition of fire doors, including their hardware and associated components, and recommend necessary repairs or replacements.
Stay updated on local, state, and federal fire safety regulations as they pertain to fire door installation and maintenance.
Provide educational sessions to clients and staff on the importance of fire door safety and compliance best practices.
Collaborate with property managers, contractors, and other professionals to coordinate maintenance or remediation efforts for non-compliant fire doors.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and compliance status for all fire doors inspected.
Requirements
Proven experience in fire door inspection or a related field within fire safety and compliance.
Knowledge of relevant fire codes, standards, and regulations such as NFPA and local building codes.
Strong attention to detail and ability to perform detailed inspections and assessments.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical information clearly.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, managing multiple tasks efficiently.
Certification in fire door inspection or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe is preferred.
Proficient in using inspection tools and software for reporting and documentation purposes.
