Therefore, I would like to welcome an individual that can bring their radiological protection experience and assist and support the Radiological Protection Advisers through supervision and management of the radiological monitoring teams to cultivate a high standard of radiological protection on the Harwell site.”
Key Deliverables
1. Provide central focus and supervise the work of a team of radiological monitoring persons.
2. Undertake inspections and checks on work undertaken in accordance with safety documentation and associated paperwork that adequate safety control is maintained by team members.
3. Review the standard of surveys and production of reports providing guidance on quality where required.
4. Assist with radiological protection inspections, audits, and investigations to ensure effective implementation of the radiological protection programme and maintaining regulatory compliance with IRR 2017 and supporting company standard S-139 (or ability to provide examples of good radiological protection practices).
5. Assist with the development of radiological protection operating procedures, instructions, standards, and risk assessments including delivery of radiological based training/inductions.
6. Provide operational direction and advice to Radiation Protection Supervisors and Task Supervisors on practical radiological protection matters and liaising with Radiation Protection Advisers and, if required, Safety Engineers.
7. Liaise with other departments to assist with workload planning and scheduling to ensure resources are put to use effectively and efficiently.
8. Support the site emergency arrangements team providing silent hours on-call response and emergency exercises.
9. Mentor and develop Chargehands covering a 24hr shift building.
10. Deliver and manage training programs to staff and SQEP to RMP’s through LMS, ViP, and S-466.
11. Appointment as ASQEP for clearance of radiologically clean / Out of Scope items.
Qualifications and Experience
1. National Qualification to at least NVQ level 3 in a relevant subject (desirable).
2. Practical radiological protection experience.
3. Some level of supervisory experience is desirable.
4. Good underpinning knowledge of Ionising Radiation Regulations and Company Standard S-139 or good radiological protection practices.
5. Good awareness of the Environmental Permitting Regulations.
6. Strong understanding of radiological protection instrumentation and dosimetry arrangements.
