PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Administrative and Clerical Duties Record and extract admission, transfer and discharge information from the Trust PAS system. Provide guidance to and record visitors to the department. Handle telephone calls from relatives, hospital staff, public etc, under guidance where necessary from the Trials Team, and making calls where appropriate on behalf of department staff. Ensure that patients medical records are available on the department, when required, obtaining these where necessary from other departments. Assemble new files and transfer letters and other reports to staffs personal files and general collation of files promptly and efficiently. Deliver staff mail. Order stationery and provisions and complete requisition forms under instruction from Clinical Trials Coordinator. Maintaining records on behalf of Clinical Trials Coordinator and Research Team. General office work and any other duties assigned by the Supervisor or Manager including photocopying and printing. Assisting to maintain high standards of care Assist in the welcome and reception of patients, visitors and representatives into the clinical area. Maintain a safe working environment, reporting items for repair, incidents, accidents and complaints. Understand the need to maintain and respect patient and staff confidentiality. Participate in in-service training. Participate in mandatory training annually. Participate in annual performance appraisal and pay performance review. Undertake duties on different wards/departments/sites as and when required by service demands. Develop good working relationship Participate in appropriate and relevant communications networks. Ensure the maintenance of good relationships, communications and teamwork with all disciplines within the department and other theatres in the CSU.
