My client in Nether Edge, Sheffield is seeking a nursery floor manager. You must be qualified to a minimum of a level 3 nursery practitioner qualification to apply.
Duties:
1. To be responsible for the day to day running of the Nursery and Preschool Ltd and to liaise with the proprietors and to work in accordance with the standards set by Ofsted.
2. To provide staff supervision, training, motivation and maintain correct staffing ratios.
3. To employ staff as and when required and produce policies and procedures in accordance with the Children’s Act 2004.
4. To ensure the smooth day to day running of the nursery and supporting good relations within the nursery.
5. To maintain an attractive learning environment which is safe, consistent in its standards and geared towards the provision of an educational environment providing for all children’s developmental ages and abilities.
6. To assist and support the nursery staff in their team roles and personal development.
7. To be aware of staff training requirements and implement whenever necessary.
8. To ensure the promotion of a key worker system.
9. To promote the high standards of the nursery at all times to both parents, staff and visitors.
10. To ensure that all staff who are recruited are appropriately qualified and experienced.
11. To encourage staff to attend relevant courses and attend out of house training.
12. To ensure the provision of high standards of physical and emotional care.
13. To lead a team of professional workers and to ensure good practice at all times.
14. To represent the nursery at meetings relating to child development and education.
15. To ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene exist and are maintained within the nursery.
16. To be able to implement the health and safety policies, fire procedures and have a good working knowledge of first aid.
17. To have a working understanding of the Children’s Act 2004 and the standards it sets for day care.
18. A knowledge of the children’s protection act within the day care setting.
19. To be aware of and be able to recognise child abuse and abuse procedures.
20. To ensure all medication, medical care, special diets and first aid are administered as appropriate.
21. To take control of administration, fees, records of both staff and children, waiting lists, registers and rota’s.
22. To be able to liaise with other professionals such as social workers, teachers, doctors, health visitors and NVQ assessors.
23. To do school runs by car and on foot.
24. To be aware of the complaints procedure.
25. Responsible for the ordering of materials.
26. Have a theoretical knowledge of child development and the variety of child rearing practices.
27. To produce a curriculum which ensures that all work programmes and activities encourage each child to develop their full potential.
28. To be aware of the additional needs of children and their families.
29. To respect the confidentiality of clients at all times.
30. To provide a service which values and respects the differing cultures and ethnic backgrounds of families and children using the nursery.
31. To develop a partnership with parents to support them in the care and education of their children.
32. To update and comply with the operational plan ensuring all day care standards are met as set by Ofsted.
33. To ensure the nursery staff are responsible for the safe and appropriate use of the nursery equipment as well as maintaining the cleanliness and maintenance of the equipment.
34. Any other duties and responsibilities as may be determined after negotiation between the manager and the proprietors.
