As a construction manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all the logistics of a construction project. Duties may include creating work schedules for your team, and allocating responsibilities. The position will also come along with a variety of company benefits including 30 days of annual leave (inclusive of statutory holidays) and access to a company pension scheme.\nQ: Where will I work?\nA: You will work for our Contracts department which is operated out of Head Office in Alloa. However, you will spend the majority of your time based on a live construction sites which are generally within the Central Belt of Scotland and will be working alongside our trained technical and professional staff.\nQ: What will happen on completion of my apprenticeship?\nA: We are committed to developing you as far as you can, so would be looking to support you to further develop you and continue your employment with us as an Assistant Construction Manager.\nQ: How will the programme be structured? What does it involve?\nA: You will be supported on a day-to-day basis by your line manager who is committed to ensuring you develop and achieve your potential. Alongside your line manager, you will also be assigned a mentor who can support your wider career development.\n You will develop a diverse range of technical, managerial, and interpersonal skills essential for overseeing construction projects efficiently. You will gain hands-on experience in project planning, scheduling, and coordination, ensuring that construction activities align with project timelines and budgets. You will also learn to read and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and specifications, enhancing your technical understanding of building structures, materials, and methods.\n\nAdditionally, you will develop problem-solving skills by addressing site challenges, managing subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and building codes. Communication and leadership skills will be crucial as you interact with clients, engineers, and workers to facilitate smooth project execution. Exposure to cost estimation, procurement, and contract administration will strengthen your financial and negotiation abilities.\n\nFurthermore, you will become proficient in using construction management software and digital tools for project tracking and documentation. Over time, you will cultivate critical thinking, adaptability, and decision-making skills, which are essential for successfully managing construction projects from inception to completion. Candidates to have a minimum of 1 Higher Level (A-C) and a pass at National 5 Mathematics.\n \nAnother key requirement of this job is that the candidates will be required to have a driving licence as they will be required to work on one of our construction sites within the central belt of Scotland. The company would provide them with a company van for the purposes of commuting to the site. \n
