Job summary Due to the creation of the new M-block we are looking for a Band 4 associate practitioners to join the general medical team. Main duties of the job To work under indirect supervision of physiotherapists in providing a high standard physiotherapy service across the medical team. Assist in the provision of care to patients, supported and supervised by a senior physiotherapist. To manage physiotherapy inpatient handovers on medical wards, prioritising and delegating where necessary. Once competent to carry out an initial assessment of a patient with non-complex needs using an assessment proforma. This will include the gathering of history and physical examination in order to plan and deliver an effective physiotherapy intervention. Carry out clinical tasks, such as prescribe, teach, review and adapt exercises for patients to optimise rehabilitation and maintenance on discharge. Carry out clinical assessments independently such as range of movement, risk assessments, stairs assessment and discharge. Monitor stock of disposable physiotherapy equipment and liaise with the Ward clerk re ordering items. Contribute to the induction of new physiotherapists and physiotherapy students to the medical team.
