An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Peterborough Critical Care Outreach Team for a 10-month fixed term/secondment.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and highly motivated Band 6/7 Critical Care/Emergency Care/Acute Medicine nurse who is dedicated to delivering excellent patient care outside the critical care area, and has an interest in education and quality improvement.
As a Band 7 Critical Care Outreach Nurse Practitioner, you will support the Trust in the delivery of effective, responsive and compassionate care for deteriorating adult patients. You will be responsible for supporting the team with the focus on early recognition of deterioration, timely escalation of care and treatment whilst developing the deteriorating patient care skills within the Trust.
There may be a possibility of the role becoming permanent.
After the supernumerary period, you will be expected to work collaboratively with ward and critical care clinicians, demonstrate excellent clinical skills and evidence-based decision making, carry out advanced assessment and early intervention and treatments for deteriorating patients. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously are essential.
You will be part of the Resuscitation Team/Hospital@Night and will be required as an ALS provider to lead rescue interventions and facilitate transfers to and from critical care. You will work a mixture of days, nights, and weekends within the team. Formal and informal education is an integral part of this role, and you will take an active part in education and training for junior staff around the management of deteriorating patients.
Do you have at least 2 years of Band 6 experience within an acute environment? Can you stay calm under pressure and have a positive influence on staff and patient outcomes in challenging situations? There will be an opportunity for rotation to the Critical Care Unit to develop level 3 skills.
If you are motivated and passionate about delivering high standards of care to critically ill patients, have excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, and are looking for a new challenge and development opportunity, then this may be the role for you.
We are dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusivity within our workforce and warmly welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, with a particular emphasis on encouraging those from disabled, Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, as well as candidates from our local area.
