We need passionate and skilled SEND Specialist Tutors to deliver tailored one-to-one tuition for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), who are currently unable to attend mainstream education.
This is a unique opportunity to provide meaningful support and make a real difference to young learners.
Many of the pupils you will work with may feel disengaged from their education, struggle with anxiety, or have not had their needs fully met in traditional school settings.
As a SEND Specialist Tutor, you will:
- Create and deliver bespoke 1:1 lessons to bridge gaps in learning and boost attainment.
- Re-engage pupils with their education by offering structure, building confidence, and supporting their return to a school environment.
- Work flexibly to meet the needs of pupils, delivering sessions that may replace standard school hours on a part-time basis.
- Location: Various locations across Swindon.
- Position: SEND Specialist Tutor.
- Type of Work: Contract, tailored tuition packages.
- Start Date: Immediate.
- Duration: Until the pupil is ready to reintegrate into a mainstream or specialist school.
- Contract Type: Temporary.
- Hours: Part-time, with a minimum of 10 hours per week per student.
- Pay Rate: From £27 per hour (negotiable based on experience).
- Schedule: Flexible, based on the pupil's and family's availability.
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching in UK classrooms or working with young people in a therapeutic or creative capacity.
- A patient, flexible, and creative approach to teaching.
- Experience working with disengaged learners or managing challenging behaviours.
- PECS/Makaton training (desirable but not essential).
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS certificate (child barred list) registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
- Two professional child-related references.
- Work closely with a supportive team dedicated to helping you succeed in this role.
