Lead Ranger - Wimborne Summary INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY Are you a dynamic and experienced countryside professional with a passion and knowledge of nature, it’s conservation and the outdoors? We’re looking for a Lead Ranger to join our team. This is a fixed term contract, due to end when a previous employee returns from a secondment back-filling maternity leave. At this point we cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last, but it is unlikely to be more than 12 months. What it's like to work here As the Lead Ranger for Kingston Lacy, you’ll be joining our passionate team to become a voice of our landscapes, a conservation champion, and a lover of all things outdoors. You will be working with a driven and highly motivated team at the forefront of the National Trust’s ambitious nature recovery targets for Kingston Lacy. The estate covers a total of 8,500 acres, and contains a huge variety of habitats from parkland, woodland, chalk downland and heathland and is crossed by miles of footpaths and bridleways. The outstanding art collection is one of the main attractions to the beautiful Italian-inspired mansion with its rare collection of artefacts. For more information about our property please visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk/kingston-lacy What you'll be doing Your role will be to manage our fantastic ranger team in their day-to-day work to deliver more for land and nature. You will be responsible for achieving nature restoration targets on our in-hand land, overseeing forestry works and enhancing our visitor offer at our outdoor sites. Reporting to the Countryside Manager, you will aid delivery of ambitious nature focused projects across the estate. You'll have delegated responsibility for managing budgets - operational and project - that are required to deliver this work and for protecting and enhancing the Trust’s assets and reputation. Already a strong leader, you're looking for the next step. You'll need extensive knowledge of land management and a track record of delivering to a high standard, ensuring compliance with health and safety and be able to balance managing and developing our countryside estate, with the demands of a busy, high profile visitor environment. Who we're looking for To deliver this role successfully, you’ll be a proven leader who is confident and outgoing. You will be highly motivated to deliver great people management, a quality nature conservation management and an exceptional visitor experience. So, you’ll be; • An experienced people manager with the ability to lead a team to deliver effectively• An excellent communicator with experience in stakeholder management• Enthusiastic, knowledgeable, inspiring, great with people and comfortable working with people of all ages and backgrounds• Experienced in relevant land, conservation and access management• Customer aware and take pride on delivering excellent customer service• Organised and self-motivated, confidently able to manage a demanding workload with competing pulls on your time• Confident in managing budgets, finances and contracts• Knowledgeable in health and safety requirements and other compliance issues relating to the countryside and visitor activities• Holder of a full UK driving licence.
