Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist looking to take the next step in you career? If so, join the team at Potters Bar Clinic as a Lead Occupational Therapist.
You will be joining a service for adults and adolescents with Mental Health issues. Potters bar consists of 2 adult acute wards and 2 CAHMS low secure wards.
Where you will be working:
Location: 190 Barnet Road, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, EN6 2SE
Join the team at Potters Bar Clinic providing care for young people and adults with acute
mental health needs and personality disorders in an established 24-hour care environment. The CAMHS Tier 4 Low Secure services are for young people aged 13–18.Potters Bar Clinic is located in a residential area, only one minute drive from the M25 and a short bus ride from Potters Bar Train Station, with a bus stop right outside, making it an easy commute for most.
What you will be doing
As the Lead Occupational Therapist, you will be managing and leading the Occupational Therapy Service across the CAMHS and Adult services, using evidence based and patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, which provide patients with the confidence, skills and coping strategies required for independent living.
You will report directly to the Therapy Lead, with the opportunity to work autonomously in your running of the OT department. Given the complexity of the CAMHS cases it is expected that the majority of your direct clinical work will be on the CAMHS wards, and you will be an ‘internal care coordinator’ to some of the families.
You will be responsible for managing and co-ordinating the implementation of individual treatment plans for occupational therapy services ensuring treatments, activities and interventions are delivered through effective application and communication by the Occupational Therapists.
You will need to be confident in the application of your OT skills and knowledge but also highly adaptable, and able to tailor your intervention to the needs of our service users. The young people on the CAMHS wards in particular, often have highly complex backgrounds with co-morbid presentations, and have experienced a number of unsuccessful interventions, and often a number of previous inpatient admissions. You will need to be patient, sensitive and determined to engage them in therapy.
As a Lead Occupational Therapist, you will be:
Receiving and responding promptly to referrals, undertaking patient assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions either on an individual or group basis.
Working to develop living skills, rehabilitation, and educational opportunities/therapies under the strategic direction of the Therapy Lead and other members of the Senior Management Team.
Ensuring the effective and efficient management of Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapist Assistants and students.
Planning and implementing individual and group interventions collaboratively with Service users.
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
To be qualified and registered as an Occupational Therapist
At least 3 years post qualifying experience.
Substantial experience of working within Mental Health, preferably with both CAMHS and Adult experience
Substantial experience of inpatient work.
What you will get:
