Who You Are As a Social Worker in the Children and Young People's Service, you are a dedicated professional with strong knowledge of child care practices and legislation such as the Children Act 1989 and 2004. You have substantial experience in social care, with at least three years of post-qualification experience, allowing you to handle complex child protection and care cases. You are committed to safeguarding children, adept at communication and negotiation, and possess excellent analytical and time-management skills. Your professional qualifications, such as CQSW, DipSW, CSS, or PQCCA, support your registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. What the job involves As a Social Worker under the Children’s Social Care, you will manage a caseload that includes Children in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children. Your responsibilities include undertaking detailed assessments, planning and implementing care arrangements, and ensuring services meet children's needs. You will work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, participate in case allocations, and maintain comprehensive case records. In Grade K, you will handle the most complex cases, such as those involving child protection and care proceedings, requiring you to attend court and provide professional opinions. Collaboration with other agencies, advocating for children's needs and managing statutory duties are integral parts of your role, as is contributing to the strategic management of services. As part of your progression, you may also supervise Social Work students, providing guidance and assessment. The role demands flexibility, with occasional work outside regular hours, and requires adherence to data protection protocols and active communication to promote children's wellbeing.
