Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
Our Senior Healthcare Support Workers (SHCSWs) form an essential and well-respected part of our healthcare teams across a number of dynamic settings; out in the community, in our acute hospitals or within our theatres teams to name just a few.
You will be a valued member of the team through our comprehensive training and induction programme and our commitment to learning and development will satisfy even the most ambitious person.
Main duties of the job
As a key member of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, you will be joining an exceptional team working together to help our patients to stay healthy, when they need it most.
Job responsibilities
Every day, you will make a huge difference to the lives of the people we care for, delivering a high standard of care alongside your colleagues. Providing personal care, promoting nutritional needs, and assisting in the recovery and recuperation of patients on their journey to better health are just some aspects of this essential role.
We work as a day case unit, but also have acutely unwell patients from across the hospital. You will learn how to care for the haemodialysis patient, and how to work the specialist equipment we use. All candidates may choose to come for an informal visit to see the unit. All skills are to be taught in the first four weeks at Heavitree hospital unit, working 37.5 hours Mon-Fri 0730-1530. This is crucial to learn the fundamentals of the role, despite the job itself being part time.
Working Pattern
We have two shifts, an early shift starts at 0730 and finishes at 1800, and the late shift starts at 1200 and finishes at 2230. Each of these is of ten paid hours. The successful candidate would do two per week on average, or eight in a four week period. We do not work night shifts or Sundays.
Depending on your shift pattern and working hours, you may also receive additional enhancements to your pay.
