We are looking for a pro-active, approachable individual who has a passion for player welfare. You will work in close liaison with the Head of Academy Physiotherapy and the Head of Academy Performance Support, providing exceptional care to enhance player development, injury prevention, and rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assess and manage injuries and illnesses of players in the Academy PDP (U21 and U18) squads, providing referrals as necessary to internal and external health professionals.
* Monitor player wellbeing in collaboration with the Club Safeguarding Team.
* Engage in the competency framework and integrated appraisal process.
* Ensure compliance with all Policies and Procedures, particularly regarding Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety.
* Provide pitch-side medical cover for training and matchdays, following Academy Medical Emergency Action Plans (EAPs).
* Design and implement individual injury prevention and rehabilitation programmes for assigned players.
* Ensure accurate and confidential medical notes are completed and uploaded to Kitman Labs within 24 hours.
* Liaise with other Academy staff, including the Performance Support MDT, to provide an integrated approach to performance enhancement.
* Conduct injury audits and provide updates on the rehabilitation and return-to-play status of injured players.
* Conduct medical and movement screenings for PDP players, and contribute to performance reviews.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
* BSc in Physiotherapy
* Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
* HCPC registered Physiotherapist (or equivalent)
* FA Advanced Trauma and Medical Management in Football (ATMMiF) qualification
* Excellent computer literacy, strong organisational skills, and attention to detail
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* A dedicated, committed, and hardworking individual with strong leadership skills
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
* MSc in Sports Medicine or working towards
* MSc in Advanced Physiotherapy or working towards
* Certificate in strapping and taping
* Valid driving licence
* Ability to contribute to internal and external networks
Terms of Appointment:
* A DBS check will be required for the successful candidate
* 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility to meet the needs of the business
* Subject to a successful probation period
