Madisons Recruitment are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to start as soon as possible with a client of ours in Stockport. Our client is a highly respected, North West based civil engineering and highways contractor specialising in framework contracts with Local Councils and Transport Authorities.
Responsibilities
1. Site measurements and preparations of weekly cost and production reports
2. Undertake cost forecasts
3. Liaise with the site teams to assess and prepare quotations and estimates
4. Management of subcontractors including enquiries, order placement, payment assessments
5. The production of valuations and submission to clients
6. Interpret drawings and instructions and agree estimates with site teams and clients
7. Liaise with subcontractors to agree rates and services
8. Agree final accounts with all parties in a prompt manner
9. Undertake stock control monitoring and provide reports to the Financial Director
10. Liaise with the finance and admin team in the preparation and settlement of accounts
11. Assist the financial director and his team in preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting
12. Co-ordination with site teams and business centre managers
13. Ensure clear, accurate and up to date records are always maintained
14. Always represent the company to clients and outside organisations in a professional manner
15. Any other reasonable requests from company management
Requirements
1. QS Degree or equivalent
2. Civil Engineering (Highways/ Structures) experience
3. Extensive experience with both private and public sector clients on major projects and a working knowledge of NEC (mainly) and JCT forms of contract
4. Commercially aware, you’ll work well as part of a team and demonstrate the people management skills to support and mentor where required
5. A knowledge and understanding of the component parts of a project and overall construction costs
6. Great interpersonal skills, an ability to communicate effectively (both internally and with Clients)
7. You will have the necessary ambition and drive to deliver a high quality professional service
8. IT Skills, such as Office, Outlook, measure software
9. Good organisational skills
10. Self-motivation and keen to become an integral office team member
11. An ability to make your own informed decisions and work unsupervised
