About our School
ISP Whitstable is an independent learning to learn centre supporting young people to transition back to school following a long absence or to assist with the transition to a new school after a change in placement.
Our Centre supports young people returning to mainstream education as well as those with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
We provide a high-quality learning to learn programme, providing opportunities to learn, achieve, and re-engage or re-start the young person's educational journey.
Role responsibilities
* Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of no more than five pupils
* Support the classroom teacher during lessons
* Report on pupils’ progress and concerns, liaising with other school staff to meet pupils' needs
* Supervise pupils during non-classroom times, including extracurricular activities and trips
* Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation
* Set work where appropriate and mark assignments
* Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage interaction and positive learning outcomes
Requirements
* Strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Mathematics, and sound IT skills
* Experience in a similar role, e.g., Teaching Assistant
* Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting
* Ability to lead on a specialism such as reading, mathematics, or Forest School
* Experience in behaviour management techniques
* Commitment to professional development and willingness to learn
* Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check; costs will be covered by ISP
