Job Summary
An IT Solution Architect is responsible for providing technology expertise to design business applications/solutions. This includes responsibility for developing architectural artefacts including baseline and target architectures, developing architecture building blocks, technical reference model and design patterns. Also responsible for: acting as technical lead on business and IT programmes and projects; understanding requirements and elaborating suitable solutions in alignment with strategy and delivery framework; producing design artefacts and getting approval from governance forums.
The role requires a strong understanding of technical architecture, applications and data flows in the context of the overall TIP system, with focus on our commercial application portfolio (incl. Salesforce) landscape and underlying business processes.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities
* Provide specialist technology expertise to solve business problems and opportunities
* Encourage programme/project leads and service owners to adhere to agreed management frameworks and approaches
* Support the transition of applications to suitable platforms and hosting arrangements in accordance with the platform architecture strategy and programme of works
* Produce reports as appropriate for architecture and project governance, including making recommendations for changes to the agreed scope
* Provide strategic advice, guidance and direction to database designers, application developers, technical architects and others to achieve the desired architecture target state
* Produce required artefacts to describe the inter-relationships between people, organisation, service, process, data, information, technology and the external environment
* Collaborate with the other architects, IT suppliers, business and Portfolio leads to develop, embed and enhance our standard architecture processes, that continuously improve our capabilities and delivery of successful project outcomes.
* Use appropriate modelling, prioritisation and environmental trend techniques to identify and convey the business benefits of pursuing alternative strategies and approaches
* Develop option, proposal and recommendation papers to secure buy-in, approval and funding for application development
* Be responsible for the designs of the high-level structures to enable and guide the development of integrated solutions that meet current and future business needs
* Assist with embedding required changes to service, process, organisation to improve IT, the businesses operating models and drive innovation
* Work with internal and external technical architects, Portfolio leads and Service Delivery Manager/s to ensure that the design of our applications, services or platforms supports current and future architecture and business visions.
* Collaborate with stakeholders on practices and processes to ensure the security, compliance, quality, integrity, safety and availability of all forms of data and data structures which form the organization’s information layer
* Promote innovative ways for managing the organization’s application architecture in line with legal compliance and best practice
* Contribute to IT infrastructure and strategic technology change projects
* Deputise for the IT Enterprise Architect and represent the IT service as a whole
* Working with subject matter experts to understand requirements, developing functional and technical specifications to the appropriate level of detail
* Utilisation of chosen technologies and internal / external resources to ensure high quality, timely deliverables
* Provide direction on adoption of new technologies / industry best practices

Qualifications/Requirements
* 5+ years Solutions Architect
* Experience with SalesForce, ERP, Rental or Leasing and Finance systems (MS Dynamics)
* 2+ years experience in at least 2 of the following: SQL, JQuery, SOAP, XML, JavaScript, .Net.
* 1+ year experience API and SOA technology
* 3+ years experience of working as a developer with in house development teams
o 2+ experience of developing and managing Salesforce, ERP, Workflow management solutions using Salesforce (e.g. SalesCloud, Pardot, HubSpot) and at least 2 of the following;
o Azure Data Factory, SOAP, REST API or similar
o MS Dynamics/ Oracle Financials/ SAP or similar
o PowerApps & Flow.
* Experience managing and working with external suppliers to deliver high quality application solutions
* Extensive knowledge and experience of Software Development Lifecycle and project management Approaches (SDLC) (agile, waterfall, iteration and SOA)
* 1 year+ Knowledge and experience of developing application solutions as IAAS, PAAS and SAAS, including; Azure, AWS, O365 and open source options
* Experience developing technical architecture governance documentation
* Exposure to Architecture modelling languages and tools; UML, ArchiMate
* Understanding of at least one enterprise and solution Architecture frameworks; TOGAF, ZACHMAN etc
* Knowledge and experience in business and project methodologies and frameworks such as Prince2, PMP, Agile and ITIL
* 1 year+ Experience developing conceptual, logical and physical architectural models
* Experience of building strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills
* Positive can-do attitude and flexibility of approach
* Commercial awareness to select and advise on appropriate technical options
* Experience of working in an international organisation
* Demonstrable capability to assimilate and retain business/system knowledge for input into system strategy recommendations
* Must be a self-starter and able to multi-task
* Team player, able to work closely with peers to reach common goals
