In the absence of permanent staff members, the job provides young people with an engaging curriculum and lessons that have been planned in advance. At Key Stage 5, the school collaborates with a partner School, where many of their students go on to University with others securing Apprenticeships or employment. Supply Teacher Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification. Previous teaching experience in secondary schools in the last 2 years. Relevant qualifications in education or transferable skills in areas such as mentoring, training, or youth work. Strong classroom management and communication skills. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Hold a Child DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one with GSL Education. Supply Teacher Responsibilities: Deliver pre-planned, engaging lessons across a range of subjects using pre-prepared materials. Keep accurate attendance records, reporting any absences or unusual circumstances to the school office. Adapt teaching to suit the needs of all students, including those with SEN. Adapt to different teaching environments and year groups as required. Follow lesson plans set by absent teachers or create lessons when required. Collaborate with staff to ensure a smooth handover and effective lesson delivery.
