Team Leader - Care
Location: Loughton, Essex
Salary: £43,680 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week
An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Care Team Leader to join a newly established, directly employed care team providing 24-hour care to the company's Client.
The Role
The role of the Team Leader will be fundamental to the running of the newly appointed care team who provide 2:1 care to the client 24 hours a day. It is expected that the successful candidate will have prior experience in a Team Leader or Team Manager role. You should be a calm, professional, and inspiring leader whose primary focus will be on the safety and wellbeing of the client, while ensuring that the care team is supported to provide the optimum level of care to enable the client to thrive.
You will work closely with the team of therapists who devise the appropriate therapy programmes for the client and ensure that each member of the care team is suitably trained to support and implement these programmes. Management of the care team will include the recruitment and training of all staff, holding probationary review meetings, regular supervisions, ensuring training is up-to-date, and maintaining all documentation related to care planning.
You should be able to work closely with the client's parents, case manager, therapy team, education providers, and other professionals involved with the care package to ensure a seamless and cohesive provision. This should be continually reviewed to ensure that appropriate rehabilitation services are identified and coordinated using a multi-professional approach.
Their Client
He is an engaging and happy 10-year-old boy who lives with his parents and younger brother in an adapted home in Loughton. The home has been fully equipped to provide for the client's care needs and to ensure he has safe, easy access and movement around the home.
The client has complex care needs due to injuries sustained at birth, including cerebral palsy, epilepsy, global development delay, and associated learning disabilities. He is not independently mobile and cannot communicate verbally, although he can make some sounds to express his emotions. He requires support in all areas of his life, including drinking and feeding via his PEG, medication, and personal care.
Interests/Hobbies
He enjoys various activities; he loves water play and going swimming and bowling in the local community. He especially enjoys tactile play and activities that create a sensory experience, ensuring his days are full of fun and laughter. The client thrives on time spent with his family and in the company of positive people. The family visits relatives overseas annually, and the ability to accompany the client on these visits would be an advantage.
Hours of Work
The Care Team Leader role is full-time, working 35 hours per week on a rota basis, Monday to Sunday. While the working hours primarily fall within the day shift hours of 08:00 and 20:00 daily, there may be occasions when you are required to provide overnight support.
It is expected that the successful candidate will be flexible to work alongside all members of the care team to maintain accessibility and professional relationships, as well as ensure that care standards are upheld.
Skills and Qualifications
1. Demonstrable leadership skills and previous experience managing a care team.
2. Minimum of 5 years' experience working with children, young people, or adults with disabilities, neurological conditions, or special educational needs.
3. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with clear verbal and written communication skills, including report writing, and be IT literate.
4. Competent in care planning, activity planning, risk assessing and management, and able to identify, organise, and coordinate outings, access to specialist services, and equipment.
5. Able to work on own initiative, be organised, reliable, and punctual.
6. Proficient in maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality within the workplace, with an understanding of sensitivities required when working within a private family home.
7. Have a qualification in Health & Social Care or in an educational capacity.
8. Familiar and knowledgeable of The Care Act 2014.
9. Hold a full, clean UK driving licence.
