Lac La Ronge Indian Band Health Services is looking for a Dietitian for the Community of La Ronge to provide consultations, counselling, and education services to the LLRIB membership and communities in order to improve and protect the nutritional health of their members. The Dietitian will also provide assessments and interventions including the development, implementation, and evaluation of nutritional care plans. About the position:
1. Complete an assessment to evaluate client’s health needs and diet;
2. Counsel clients on nutrition and healthy eating habits;
3. Develop meal plans;
4. Provide ongoing evaluation of the effects of meal plans and make changes as needed;
5. Develop and deliver education sessions on topics related to food and nutrition;
6. Deliver and facilitate nutrition programs;
7. Provide written reports to document client progress;
8. Other duties as assigned by the Home Care Manager.
Duties:
1. Work with the Home Care Manager & Diabetes Nurse Educator to develop and maintain nutrition programs;
2. Complete assessments of client health needs and diet;
3. Counsel clients on nutrition & healthy eating habits;
4. Develop meal plans, taking both cost & client’s preferences into account;
5. Promote healthy eating by speaking to groups about diet, nutrition & the relationship between good eating habits & preventing or managing specific diseases;
6. Maintain liaison with Community & other related Agencies, Organizations, Teachers, Physicians & Hospitals;
7. Provide written reports to document client progress;
8. Perform other related duties assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics, Food & Nutrition, Food System Management, Clinical Nutrition or related field;
2. Must be registered (or eligible for registration) with the Saskatchewan Dietetic Association & or the Dieticians of Canada;
3. Experience in delivering & facilitating nutritional programs;
4. Strong verbal & written communication skills;
5. Strong computer skills;
6. Ability to work with little or no supervision;
7. Ability to work with key stakeholders & to work as a team player;
8. Ability to speak/understand Cree is a definite asset;
9. Must have a valid driver’s license & be able to travel extensively.
