They specialise in the full design, fabrication, supply and installation of bespoke architectural precast concrete facade cladding and other bespoke elements. They have developed long standing relationships with most leading UK Developers, Contractors and Consultants alike.
The company has recently secured some notable new contracts and is now looking to appoint an experienced structural engineer to be the lead Engineer in the UK for all design aspects relative to the manufacture, supply and installation of the company’s products.
They currently have a 30 strong design team based in mainland Europe which includes both engineers and design technicians but are now looking to establish a design team in the UK to support the existing UK operations and commercial teams. Currently in the UK, the design is carried out using a combination of the European design team as well as UK based design consultancies for final approval and checking by UK chartered engineers.
Ideally the candidate will be a chartered structural design engineer with a strong interest / understanding of façade projects, But they would also look at candidates that are near chartered or incorporated engineers with relevant experience. They can also consider applications from design managers with strong facades projects experience who could manage design from the European team and network of consultants.
As this role is a new position and they currently have the design support in place, this gives the successful candidate time to bed in and get up to speed with current processes and operations to then to start taking full ownership of the UK operations design offering. It is expected the role will encompass the preparation of calculations and the structural design of reinforced concrete elements and the design of connections to the supporting structure along with design input into ancillary works also provided by the company. This role will also involve the management and direction of Design Technicians and the monitoring of the production of General Arrangement drawings, Builders Work details and Manufacture drawings to ensure that the companies programme obligations are adhered to.
It is expected that over time the UK design team will increase in size with the successful individual spearheading that growth and development. This role will report directly to the Managing Director and work in close collaboration with the Technical Director, design team and drawing office based in mainland Europe.
The Structural Engineer is responsible for all activities related to the structural design and engineering of reinforced concrete elements/ components to the relevant British Standards or Euro codes, as well as the design of connections to the supporting structure along with design input into ancillary works also provided by the company.
You will be expected to be proficient with relevant structural analysis software and must be able to undertake your own analysis and design and manage other resources to deliver profitable projects. You will also be required to attend project team and client meetings and therefore interpersonal skills must be well-developed.
