The Dame Carol Detoxification Service supports up to nine adults with life-threatening addictions from across the South of England. We work in partnership with Inclusion to provide a residential detox service for clients who are addicted to substances or alcohol.
Our aim is to reduce the need for emergency hospital admissions through the offer of planned, structured treatment.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work as part of the team alongside health staff supporting a caseload of clients to identify their needs through risk assessment and support planning.
2. Encouraging clients to think about personal progression in the form of education, training, employment activity or volunteering.
3. Support to develop practical skills in areas such as health, budgeting, shopping, cooking, housework, laundry and hygiene
4. Work with external partners to maximise the opportunities available to clients so that they can resettle in the community after treatment.
5. Promote client involvement in the smooth running of the service
6. You will be extremely conscientious in areas such as safeguarding and lone working.
7. Adhere, at all times, to Infection Control and Prevention Policies and Guidelines.
8. You will help to maintain a welcoming, clean and safe environment, identifying and minimising all potential risks to clients, colleagues and visitors.
9. You will provide basic first aid assistance until help arrives (full training provided)
10. You will maintain client records using relevant systems to an excellent standard
11. You will work in accordance with the Health and Safety regulations and all policies and procedures
12. You will attend supervision, appraisal, training and meetings as directed which may be outside your normal working pattern
13. You will work flexibly across all areas of operation where required and prior notice given
14. You will escort clients externally, within the immediate locality, as required.
15. You will support clients that may have feeding/diet difficulties and liaise with the chef as needed to resolve difficulties.
16. Support clients and health staff (with training) with temperature, pulse, respiratory rate and blood pressure (manually and electronically) monitoring.
17. You will report all changes noted in a patient’s condition to the registered nurses.
18. You will (with training) work as part of the team, helping with the cleaning and maintenance of equipment, reporting any damaged or faulty equipment to the nurse in charge.
19. You will (with training) support with emergency procedures as appropriate, e.g. fire, security, safety of clients
20. You will assist with the safe-keeping of property and valuables for clients
21. You will (with training) support nurses with admissions to detox
22. Any other reasonable tasks as requested by a member of staff
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING
Previous experience in this type of work is not essential but you will have a real passion for wanting to work with homeless people. Your values will match ours, you will be committed to helping others and enjoy the real job satisfaction that this brings.
