Job Summary
You are a key member of the finance team, responsible for overseeing and supporting various financial operations to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and administration. This role involves assisting with daily financial tasks, managing accounts, and providing analytical insights to support the finance team and the broader organisation. You will also contribute to the development of financial policies and procedures, liaise with other departments, and handle inbound calls related to financial inquiries.
You will also be enrolled in the Accounting and Finance Manager Degree Apprenticeship with Teesside University.
Responsibilities
1. Financial Administration Support: Provide efficient support to the finance team, including handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury management, and data entry using Sage 50.
2. Reporting: Prepare and deliver financial reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
3. Analytical Assistance: Assist the head of finance in drawing up analytical conclusions on performance, contributing to the understanding of financial metrics and trends.
4. Policy Development: Collaborate with the business to improve and develop financial policies and procedures, ensuring they align with organisational goals and compliance requirements.
5. Interdepartmental Liaison: Work closely with other departments to support their financial needs and ensure effective communication and coordination across the organisation.
6. Financial Administration Maintenance: Ensure that all financial administration tasks are up to date, maintaining accurate and organised records.
7. Ad Hoc Project Work: Undertake ad hoc projects as required, managing them within specified time frames to support various business needs.
8. Inbound Call Handling: Manage and respond to inbound calls related to financial inquiries, providing accurate information and resolving issues as needed to ensure customer satisfaction and efficient financial operations.

You should have a good telephone manner, be friendly, confident, and able to work under high pressure. You should be able to take instruction, follow procedures, and adhere to rules and plans. You should also be able to use your own initiative to put forward ideas to the team and contribute 110% to your working day.
Probation
The first six months after the date upon which your period of continuous employment began will be probationary.
Experience and Qualifications
1. Experience with Sage 50 and Sage 50 Payroll preferred.
2. Efficient experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
3. The ability to work independently and within a team.
4. Excellent time management skills.
5. Strong attention to detail.
6. Finance working experience preferred.
Salary Scale
Starting Salary:
1. £12,000; Criteria: Some relevant experience.
2. £15,000; Criteria: Completion of AAT or a similar qualification.
3. £18,000; Criteria: Proficient experience or relevant qualification.
After 1 Year Completion (with set performance criteria achieved):
£21,000; Criteria: Demonstrated proficiency and achievement of set performance goals over one year.
After 2 Years Completion (with set performance criteria achieved):
£23,000; Criteria: Continued excellent performance and achievement of set goals over two years.
Course Completion (with set performance criteria achieved):
£25,000; Criteria: Completion of the relevant course (e.g., Accounting and Finance Manager Degree Apprenticeship) and achievement of set performance standards.

Pay: £12,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
