We are looking for two experienced Commercial professionals to come and join the Commercial Operations team.
As a Commercial Manager, you will be the lead on a range of procurement and contract management activities. You will work directly with the Department’s policy experts to ensure that commercial solutions are put in place to meet their objectives and use the Department’s e-commercial system (Atamis) to help you to manage your portfolio of contracts and keep on top of your procurement pipeline.
The Commercial Directorate is made up of experienced commercial professionals from a mix of private and public sector backgrounds and welcomes applications from people with different experiences and backgrounds.
The roles will be in the Digital, Data and Technology category within the Commercial Operations team. Some further detail on the team:
Digital, Data and Technology – the roles will be looking at how we can really drive best value for money through our procurements and contract management within this growing portfolio. The team hold contracts covering everything from the DHSC payroll system to data contracts looking at infant mortality rates, to helping to launch the latest technology in Artificial Intelligence into the NHS. We are also looking at possible aggregation opportunities across the health family to ensure we are driving the best value from our contracts.

Role responsibilities
* Lead a range of procurements from end to end, including technical, process and stakeholder management responsibility, prioritising and managing workload to effectively meet business needs;
* Act as a key point of contact to the business for the Commercial Group, providing clear, consistent commercial advice and direction to stakeholders in delivering the Department’s key objectives;
* Develop, review and apply evidence-based category strategies and project specific procurement strategies, including spend analysis and use of market intelligence to inform option generation and selection;
* Define, manage and monitor benefits realisation including commercial savings and sustainability outcomes;
* Own and manage the commercial support of a portfolio of contracts, working closely with operational contract managers and budget holders to monitor performance against KPIs, resolve issues, manage variations and prepare pipelines for re-procurement as needed;
* Provision of commercial advice, support and guidance to the business directorate owners of contracts – including the application of a range of contract and supplier management tools;
* Develop strong working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders to maximise opportunities to collaborate, achieve efficiencies, improve capability and promote the commercial profession.
