Description We are looking for a 3D Technical Lead/Lead Modeller to join our Photo Studio team at Next. You will manage an amazing team of creative, self-motivated professionals, working as one team, to deliver high quality imagery for the Next family of websites This is an extremely fast-paced role that covers all our in-house 3D, IT and studios to maintain Next’s vision and creative beliefs. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has great technical ability, leadership skills and a proven track record in managing a team in an online, image based environment. About the role Demands both technical expertise to integrate 3D capabilities with IT infrastructure and creative modelling skills to elevate visual output. Involves close collaboration between technical and creative teams t o deliver imagery to the highest quality for the Next customer aligned to our brand principles & creative direction. You will be a focused, driven, hard-working individual who has the maturity and empathy to brief, manage and direct a team of people, across varying levels and departments, from both a technical and operational aspect. This role demands a strong team player with exceptional communication and organisational skills who is eager to learn and develop and can grasp new information & adapt quickly. You will provide strong guidance to all levels of the Studio from a 3D perspective and work closely with both the creative and technical teams to develop and implement cutting-edge techniques and technologies. You must be able to remain calm and professional while maintaining a positive and proactive attitude. You will be able to identify with the ever-changing requirements of a large studio team. It is vital to build and maintain strong relationships with senior management within Next Studios and senior stakeholders across the business. Maintain a clear understanding of the 3D workflow, continually look for efficiencies and new possibilities to improve the process and streamline production. Monitor standards to ensure consistency and continually improve quality Responsibilities Have a complete understanding of the wider Next brand purpose and strategy, and how this is reflected in your area. Lead the development and optimisation of the 3D production process, and be able to troubleshoot and solve technical issues related to 3D, to ensure the process runs smoothly and efficiently Manage the integration of 3D assets onto the website, ensuring consistency and quality Provide technical as well as aspirational guidance to the team and create a positive team dynamic Ability to lead meetings, communicate effectively and work collaboratively with Senior managers and all members of the wider team to ensure consistent high quality imagery is available within required deadlines Carry out performance reviews on a regular basis to ensure effective, motivated and supported teams Be responsible for training and development of your team and empower them to make decisions and stay focused. Develop technical and behavioural skills and promote a learning culture Listen to new ideas and have an open mind about change. Communicate effectively with the Image Production Manager to establish clear, recognizable and achievable goals. Flexibility to work at other Next studios and external studios when required. About you Extensive experience of 3D modelling, texturing, lighting and rendering as well as rendering engines like Arnold, V-Ray or similar Strong understanding of 3D software such as Maya, Blender, 3ds Max or similar Experience in 3D production with a focus on the technical aspects Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python Outstanding leadership qualities with proven track record in managing, inspiring and developing an image based team, and taking full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the team Forward thinking, innovative & proactive in your approach to all projects. Enthusiastic with strong motivational skills Able to manage multiple concurrent projects across several teams within set timescales Superior planning, workload management and organisational capabilities. Highly developed interpersonal, problem solving and presentation skills. Strong communicator and listener with an ability to influence and negotiate at all levels. Comfortable with a highly pressured and rapidly changing environment. Exemplary attention to detail. Full UK driving licence.
