About the Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer to join our Critical Mission Solutions (CMS) business. This role will be based in Reading, but there will be a need for periodic visits to Stockton-on-Tees engineering office as and when the project requires. The specific framework that is being recruited for is the AWE Non-Nuclear Engineering Partner (NNEP) framework which provides £1bn worth of engineering support to site-wide facility redevelopment and upgrades.
The CMS business provides an exciting mixture of engineering, consultancy, and project management support opportunities, for delivery of challenging decommissioning, remediation and new build related EPC projects for major clients in the UK. The sectors you will have the opportunity to work in include civil nuclear, defence industries, and chemical industries with Clients including Dounreay, Sellafield, AWE, UKAEA and Kura. Overseas, we are delivering similarly interesting and exciting projects across the globe including projects for clients in Central & Eastern Europe and Japan.
Some of your duties:
1. Development of Instrumentation Datasheets and selection of suitable devices for Pressure, Level, Temperature, Flow and Analytical measurement applications.
2. Development of Valve datasheets for automatic control and isolation valve assemblies.
3. Development of concept and detail designs for integrated measurement and control systems. This includes production of Equipment Schedules, Hook-up Drawings, Block Cable Diagrams, Wiring Schematics, Control Panel General Arrangements, Loop Diagrams and Equipment Layouts.
4. Production of User Requirement Specifications for control systems.
5. Production of Functional Control Descriptions defining control system functions, interfaces, and operator interaction requirements.
Here's What You'll Need:
6. Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Instrumentation or Control Engineering
7. Extensive experience in engineering design in the nuclear, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, mechanical handling or water industries.
8. Understanding of Safety Systems designed to BS EN 61508 / BS EN 61511
9. Knowledge of the symbols and standard practices used in preparing P&IDs, specifically for notation of control functions on such drawings.
