Overview of the role:
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scientist - Neuronal Cell Biologist to join the Wade-Martins Laboratory at the Kavli Institute of Nanoscience Discovery within DPAG. The ideal candidate will have experience working in neuronal models of neurodegeneration, ideally in human stem cell-derived models, and a good knowledge of Parkinson’s disease. You will be responsible for differentiation of iPSC-dopamine neurons from Parkinson’s patients and controls and applying cellular and molecular techniques to probe endolysosomal and mitochondrial biology, including RNA-seq profiling, to validate a novel therapeutic target. This post is available from 1st January 2025 for two years.
Key responsibilities:
• Differentiate iPSC-dopamine neurons from Parkinson’s patients and controls, using cellular and molecular techniques to study endolysosomal and mitochondrial biology
• Perform RNA-seq profiling, manage research projects, contribute new ideas, and collaborate on scientific reports.
• Present research proposals and findings.
Selection criteria:
• Hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in molecular and cellular neuroscience
• Knowledge of Parkinson’s disease
• Experience in human pluripotent stem cell culture
• Expertise in cellular assays and molecular neuroscience techniques.
