An opportunity has arisen for an exceptional candidate to manage the Building Control Service at the Council. The candidate will ideally have good experience in a Building Control environment (plan checking, site inspections, and dangerous structure work) either with a local authority or private sector and be a Registered Building Inspector validated with the Building Safety Regulator to Competency Level 2F, ideally also with Level 4 Technical Manager.
This interesting and varied role will involve managing the work of the service so that plan checking, inspections and enforcement work are all undertaken in accordance with the requirements of the Building Safety Regulator and associated best practice. It will also involve undertaking the day to day work of a Building Control Surveyor – plan checking, site inspections and unauthorized works. The successful candidate would be expected to work as part of a small team. Excellent I.T, report writing, negotiation and organisation skills combined with initiative, common sense and an ability to communicate effectively at all levels is essential.
