Do you have a passion for intensive care and working with a friendly and supportive MDT? Would you like to develop your skills as a Band 6? We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic dietitian to join our team to work on ICU to cover a secondment in our team.
You will be part of our acute based team of dietitians at Torbay Hospital and will be supported by and work closely with a Band 7 Dietitian.
Main duties of the job
As an ICU Dietitian, you will be responsible for providing specialist nutritional assessment, advice, and treatment to patients within the 10-bedded Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as part of the critical care multidisciplinary team (MDT). You will also provide follow-on nutritional advice and care alongside the ICU rehab team as part of the patient journey. You will be supported in furthering knowledge and skills in this specialist area.

We are a friendly team of forty Dietitians covering all specialities across acute and community settings. We have six teams - acute, community, diabetes, oncology, paediatrics, and weight management.
We have close links with the University of Plymouth and take student dietitians for A, B, and C placements. We are committed to supporting staff in development and to access CPD opportunities.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics.
* Proven continuous professional development in nutritional support, ICU, or other relevant area.
Knowledge
* Working knowledge of clinical dietetics relevant to critical care nutrition support to provide the most appropriate form of nutritional support and formulate meaningful nutrition plans.
* Working knowledge of nutrition screening tools such as MUST (Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool), refeeding, texture modification for dysphagia, etc.
* Ability to make judgements on a range of complex medical problems which require investigation, analysis, and assessment in order to provide the most appropriate form of nutritional intervention.
Experience
* Experience as a practising dietitian post-qualification, with proven relevant, demonstrable experience in nutritional support/tube feeding/other relevant area/specialist diets.
* Excellent communication, team working, and organisational skills.
