With almost 40 years’ experience in the energy sector, this well-established company is looking to expand and welcome an experienced Management Accountant to their ever-growing team. Although headquarters are based in the UK, they have a large presence around the world and are vital to the oil and gas industry.
Position Overview
The role involves overseeing management accounting for designated entities, focusing on providing financial and operational reporting, guidance, and establishing a robust internal control framework.
Primary Responsibilities
* Delivering high-quality financial and management information that supports enhanced decision-making and performance tracking, ensuring alignment with local, Group, and statutory reporting requirements and accounting policies.
* Preparing and submitting forecasts, management accounts, and narratives for assigned entities for Financial Controller review, adhering to strict deadlines.
* Coordinating the preparation and submission of quarterly forecasts and annual budgets.
* Maintaining the integrity of the nominal ledger for assigned entities.
* Managing cash flow, reporting, and forecasting for assigned entities.
* Assisting with the completion of corporation tax packages for the Group Tax Department.
* Completing quarterly/bi-monthly VAT returns.
* Adapting management information to meet evolving business needs and drive growth.
* Reconciling and reporting intercompany balances.
* Handling fixed asset reconciliations, including preparing capital sanctions for Senior Management.
* Preparing statutory accounts.
* Contributing to the development, enhancement, and monitoring of internal controls.
* Producing and analysing detailed product costing and margin analysis within entities.
* Setting cost rates, conducting labour analysis, and managing R&D expenditure when applicable.
* Continuously improving the accounting system to better support the finance function.
* Providing departmental support and covering responsibilities as needed, including month-end duties.
* Analysing trends, variances, and performance issues, and reporting to local management and the PLC group as required.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Essential:
* Qualified Accountant or actively pursuing a professional accountancy qualification.
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Accountancy).
* Commitment to ongoing professional development aligned with the role and accounting qualification.
* Proven post-qualification experience and experience in a similar position.
* Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
* Excellent verbal and written English skills.
Desirable:
* Knowledge and experience with ERP systems, ideally Microsoft D365.
* Valid Driver’s License.
