As a Cloud Systems Engineer, you are responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our cloud infrastructure, primarily focusing on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google Workspace. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud environment. You will collaborate with developers and other stakeholders to deliver and support robust cloud solutions. Experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure is a plus.
Responsibilities
* Design, implement, and manage GCP infrastructure components, including compute, storage, networking, and security services.
* Administer and maintain Google Workspace environments, including user management, application configuration, and security policies.
* Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or similar.
* Automate cloud operations and deployments using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tools.
* Monitor cloud infrastructure performance and proactively identify and resolve issues.
* Implement and maintain security best practices for GCP and Google Workspace environments.
* Collaborate with the development team to optimise application deployments and cloud resource utilisation.
* Troubleshoot and resolve cloud-related issues.
* Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies and trends, especially within the GCP ecosystem.
* Document cloud infrastructure and processes.
* Oversee and manage IT support tickets and requests, ensuring timely resolution and escalation as needed.
* Maintain and update IT asset inventory, including hardware, software, and licenses.
* Assist with onboarding and offboarding of employees, including provisioning and deprovisioning of user accounts and access rights.
* Manage and maintain cloud-based servers and virtual machines.
* Implement and configure cloud-based networking solutions, including VPNs, firewalls, and load balancers.
* Ensure data integrity and availability through regular backups and disaster recovery planning.
Education/Skills/Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
* 3+ years of experience in cloud systems engineering or IT operations.
* Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google Workspace administration.
* Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and best practices.
* Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform).
* Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
* Experience with automation tools and CI/CD pipelines.
* Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols.
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
* Experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure is a plus.
* Relevant GCP certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer) are a plus.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

* Use a keyboard and mouse for extended periods of time.
* This is a hybrid role and travel to our London office will be required, there may be some international travel on rare occasions.
* Ability to lift and carry light objects.
