Consultant Orthogeriatrician with Surgical Liaison
This is an exciting time to join the well-respected Department of Orthogeriatrics, which is seeking to appoint a Consultant Orthogeriatrician/Surgical Liaison.
This new post offers an opportunity to help expand the service into Surgical Liaison, allowing the successful candidate to shape and develop this area.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who will bring their skills, knowledge, and drive to our existing teams to continue developing the department. The post is a 10 PA role with opportunities to engage in specialist interests and/or non-clinical activities such as Quality Improvement (QI).
Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of attaining Specialist Registration/CCT at the time of interview. We encourage applications from candidates who, for personal reasons, are unable to work full-time.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MRCP or equivalent
* Full GMC registration, and on the specialist register OR
* Full GMC registration and within 6 months of specialist registration due to training completion or CESR application (with submission at the time of application)
Experience
* Management of a broad GIM caseload
* Management of a Geriatric/Elderly Care Medicine caseload
* Experience in a specialist interest that complements other staff's expertise
Knowledge and Skills
* Willingness and ability to fulfill key job elements
* Clinical skills in elderly care and general internal medicine
* Ability to handle the demands of a DGH-based Consultant role
* Leadership and service development skills
* Effective communication skills, both written and oral
* Empathy and integrity
* Teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration
* Flexibility to meet service demands
* Understanding of clinical governance and responsibilities
Audit
* Knowledge of multidisciplinary clinical audit principles
* Evidence of involvement in two specific medical audits within the last 18 months
Research
* Ability to critically assess research and incorporate findings into practice
* Experience in research projects
Management
* Knowledge of EWTR, junior doctor training changes
* Formal management training or leadership, planning, and change management experience
Teaching
* Experience in teaching medical students, doctors in training, and multidisciplinary teams
* Effective presentation skills using various methods
