Job summary
West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust are looking foran enthusiastic, self-motivated and hard-working Medical laboratory assistant with a keen eye for detail to join their verybusy Microbiology team at Watford General Hospital.
Main duties of the job
Participate in the collection of specimens frompathology reception, sorting samples for various benches such as urines,stools, swabs, tissues and fluids, blood and blood cultures.
Label and culture samples on relevant bacterialculture media etc.
Participate in the safe disposal of laboratorywaste and assist in the handling of deliveries and goods storage.
Work under the supervision of HCPC registeredBMS and after training work with analysers for urine microscopy andsusceptibility testing. Participate in booking laboratory requests onto thepathology LIMS system.
