School ICT Network Manager

Responsibilities will include:
Network management:
1. Configuring, installing, and maintaining the school's network hardware and software (including the servers, switches, cabling, internet routers, and Wi-Fi access points).
2. Implementing security measures and ensuring compliance with data protection requirements and industry regulations (such as anti-virus, firewall and web content filtering).
3. Creating an IT disaster recovery plan (DRP) by developing a set of strategies, procedures, and tools to recover the school’s IT systems and infrastructure if a disaster were to occur.
4. Monitoring and administering the school's internet filtering systems.
5. Updating and ensuring relevant licences are in place for software and IT services.
6. Creating and maintaining a system for backing up data and program files.
Technical support:
1. Providing technical advice and training to faculty, staff and other stakeholders.
2. Assisting in IT training for staff and students.
3. Setting up and maintaining all hardware used by staff and pupils (desktops, laptops, printers, touchscreen computers).
4. Configuration and maintenance of the School’s management information system (Engage).
5. Configuration and maintenance of the School’s VLE (MS Teams).
6. Collaborating with external vendors and IT service providers.
7. Administration and troubleshooting of externally hosted IT services, such as Microsoft 365.
8. Providing online access to school promotional media (films).
9. Organising and archiving the school information systems.
10. Hosting the school website.
11. Website design is not essential but preferable.
Policy development:
1. Creating and monitoring policies for digital education platforms, remote access, and other topics.
2. Keeping abreast of technological advancements and recommending upgrades or improvements to the network infrastructure.
3. Keeping abreast of current regulations regarding technology use and ensuring the school meets these requirements (e.g. GDPR).
4. Supporting the school in collecting information electronically to register new applicants when applying for a school place.
Financial planning:
1. Working with the Finance Director to plan for IT upgrades and developments.
2. Keeping track of equipment, computers, software licenses, and other assets.
Qualifications:
1. Degree level or equivalent or a minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in an associated area.
2. Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
Experience:
1. Experience in using IT systems, including Windows client/server operating systems.
2. A solid technical background with experience in designing, configuring, and managing networks.
3. Experience in managing a team.
4. Experience working in a school or similar environment.
5. Experience in managing projects.
