This is an opportunity for an experienced Transition Manager to take a lead role in overseeing the planning, strategy, assessment and management of service transitions for a portfolio of products across a high profile digital transformation programme in the Defence sector. The successful candidate will join a high performance and dynamic team, with a centralised goal on improving digital public services across the country. This person will need to be a strong communicator, highly organised and ready to implement and lead change in line with SDLC principles. Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of products through the full service software delivery lifecycle phases – Discovery, Development, Test, TLSM and Live. Determine whether the products/services are fit for purpose. Assess readiness against agreed service acceptance criteria at every phase. Based on your assessments, make recommendations on go live, early life support and service acceptance. Ensure the correct resources are in place, ready for each phase to progress. Ensure the acceptance criteria are understood by the wider IT operations. Build Service Transition artefacts, including but not limited to Transition Plans, Operational Acceptance Criteria and Early Life Support documentation. Be responsible for ensuring the necessary evidence is provided, to support service transitions navigating through gateways and into Live Service operation. Use IT Service Operations experience to optimise Service transition process, ensuring dynamic and agile ways of working. Work with a range of teams to ensure successful and timely delivery of services. Build strong relationships with stakeholders, Product Owners and third parties consultancies. Contribute as part of the core consulting team, championing company values, identifying opportunities for improvement of service delivery as a whole. Requirements Experience managing a portfolio of products through development. Strong appetite to review and optimise change and improvement. Use knowledge of GDS and SDLC to review readiness of products and advise accordingly. Excellent knowledge of ITIL V4.0 Practices Availability and Capacity Management Asset and Configuration Management Change Enablement Portfolio Management Service Catalogue Management Measuring and Reporting Knowledge Management Service Transition Management Strong relationship building skills and demonstrable experience working with stakeholders, end users, technical and non-technical teams. Good experience and knowledge in the following: Technology obsolesce and application decommissioning Understanding software compliance assurance processes Agile ways of working Strong communication skills. Ideally experience working with the Defence sector.
