Your role:
The Supporting Skills and Futures Team (SSFT) are looking for an Engagement Officer who will lead on engagement with residents who have lived experience of autism and other disabilities. You will be responsible for developing trusting relationships with people and capture insight, experiences, and ideas that shape the future of Adult Social Care services.
You will deliver a programme of engagement with the community, building positive relationships with residents and local VCFSE groups. Your main areas of focus will be mental health, autism, learning disabilities, support for carers and Preparing for Adulthood.
You will support the Engagement and Inclusion Lead to build initiatives and new ways of working that respond to strategic priorities within Adult Social Care and Health.
About you:
You will have experience of working with people with disabilities and evidence of facilitating people to actively contribute to developing priorities and plans in Wigan.
You will be passionate about representing the voice of local people and develop mature, collaborative relationships to support the practical implementation of engagement plans and achieve great outcomes for Wigan residents. You will have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work well with people of a variety of ages and diverse communities.
You will also be committed to asset-based approaches, have effective organisational skills with the ability to use digital communication and have a good understanding of a variety of social media platforms.
