Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Financial Controller to oversee and enhance the financial operations of our manufacturing company, which supplies products through major retail chains to end users. This role is pivotal in driving the financial health and strategic growth of the organisation. The successful candidate will lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and monthly management reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Reporting directly to the Directors, the Finance Manager will supervise a small Accounts Team, including payroll and HR functions, and play a critical role in shaping the company’s future.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, maintain, and enforce financial policies and procedures in line with accounting principles and regulations.
* Oversee the creation and management of budgets, forecasts, and financial models to meet company objectives and targets.
* Analyse financial data and deliver actionable insights through reports on financial performance, trends, and projections (monthly and weekly, as needed).
* Prepare and present monthly management accounts, including balance sheets, income statements, and weekly cashflow forecasts.
* Monitor cash flow and manage liquidity to ensure the organisation's financial stability.
* Ensure accurate and timely processing of accounts payable and receivable.
* Identify cost-saving opportunities and develop strategies to optimise financial performance and drive revenue growth.
* Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and financial professionals to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and oversee the annual audit process.
* Manage relationships with banks and insurance providers.
* Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns for all companies within the group.
* Collaborate with Directors to define and execute the company’s strategic financial goals.
* Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
* Oversee payroll processing in partnership with HR and production teams, ensuring compliance with current legislation.
Skills and Attributes
* Professional accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
* In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
* Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
* Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
* Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Demonstrated success in optimising financial operations to support business growth and scalability.
* Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a manufacturing or retail-related sector.

This is a full-time, in-person role based at our Wisbech offices. The role is hands-on, requiring a solid understanding of sales, purchases, and up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation.
