Mechanical Engineer - Flexible (With Travel to NWE Terminal and Pipeline Network Locations)
About the role
We are looking for a new Mechanical Engineer who will be flexible (with travel to NEW Terminal and Pipeline Network Locations) and will report into the Staff Mechanical Engineer. This role will be the focal point for Projects and other Stakeholders ensuring Mechanical Equipment & Piping specification complies with relevant technical standards. Modifying, improving and optimising existing equipment.
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for all mechanical equipment scope, primarily Valves, Piping and Rotating machines.
* Ensuring the application of appropriate engineering codes and standards and management of any deviations from standards.
* Ensure all design projects and reports are technically compliant, to a consistent quality and standard. Maintain regular ‘in house’ design reviews and checks.
* Manage or participate in the specification, design and safe operation of oil, gas and chemical storage and transportation equipment. Not limited to: Tank Builds, Tank modifications, Pressure Vessels, Piping, Pumps, Jetty systems, and Boilers / Fired heaters.
* Provide assurance to the UK & Ireland Engineering Manager that the MOC process is applied correctly.
* Participate in Process Hazard Analysis Studies (HAZIDs, HAZOPs) and FMEA studies.
* Working knowledge of Regulations and Directives: DSEAR (Mechanical ATEX), PER (PED), Machinery Directive, PUWER, COMAH and CDM.
* Working Knowledge of applicable API, EN, EEMUA and ASME standards.
* Experience of working within MAH environments.
* Member of the Operational Duty Manager rota
* Work to standards, procedures and work instructions for Safety Critical Tasks in order to meet COMAH requirements. Assessment of Competency will form an ongoing part of this role.
About You
In order to join our team you will need a Relevant Mechanical Engineering degree or Significant Project Experience have significant mechanical design experience including specification of Tanks, Valves and Piping with Site Commissioning and Troubleshooting experience. Specification of Tank inspection and repair of above and below ground storage tanks oil and chemical Storage. Horton Spheres and LPG Bullets for Gas Storage. Experience in a COMAH regulated industry and experience in managing ageing assets.
In order to succeed in the role you will need a working knowledge of current legislation relating to industry such as of DSEAR (ATEX), PER (PED), Machinery Directive and PUWER. Working Knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as API, EN, EEMUA & ASME. An awareness of current and new emerging technologies. Have the ability to develop new ideas and solutions be a team player and effective communicator and be able to demonstrate good management / people relationship skills. Have a full driving licence and be able to write reports with detail.
