We are delighted to announce we are looking for an additional Team Manager to work in our Birmingham office for our Motor Injury team that works with over 40 insurance companies and self-insured corporates.
The team deals with all aspects of defendant dispute resolution for injury claims, providing an end to end solution. The team also provides pre-emptive advice on these issues whilst also assisting clients formulate their own strategies.
The team deals with personal injury claims from small track to multi track including. Our team will also deal with liability, indemnity and associated special damages.
The team has a progressive approach and a market leading reputation for not simply tackling the claims themselves from a litigation perspective, but also for tracking and analysing behaviours and trends with a view to providing insurers with bespoke strategies and changing market behaviours.

What you will do
Both supervision of colleagues and line management of any Supervisor who reports directly into you, including responsibility for:
1. Undertaking annual and interim performance review discussions, to review overall performance, progress against objectives, behavioural compliance, development and career progression opportunities
2. Absence management, including conducting return to work interviews
3. Cascading and communicating information and supporting the Team Partners with the running of DRIVE and CONNECT meetings
4. Induction of colleagues and ensuring that the team's induction processes and documents are regularly reviewed and updated to remain up to date
5. Motivating and engaging the team, as well as overseeing the well-being of the workforce
6. Identifying and recognising positive performance and behaviours
7. To be directly responsible for driving and improving financial performance of colleagues through effective management and support.
Specific accountability for driving performance in the following areas:
1. Ensuring internal and external SLAs and KPIs are communicated, met or exceeded and the work of the team is of the highest standard to exceed client expectations
2. Collective team achievement of agreed financial targets
3. Ensuring colleagues deliver prompt billing, including the need for timely bill production, appropriate write off of WIP and chasing of outstanding debt
4. Ensuring colleagues' overall provision of MI is timely and accurate, through regularly analysing and acting on MI error reports, carrying out monthly MI audits and providing feedback to colleagues on any issues to address.
5. Ensuring effective coaching and technical supervision of colleagues.
6. Carrying out daily whiteboard meetings, updating attendance and occupancy tool and sustaining the Op Ex way of working (as applicable to team)
7. Ensuring any performance or conduct issues in respect of colleagues are proactively identified and addressed, with support from the Team Partner, Operations Manager and HR as appropriate
8. Liaising closely with Operations Managers on any issues arising and the day to day management of billing / debt / WIP / Unbilled disbursements / credit balances
9. Ensuring any escalated risk or compliance issues that are raised by colleagues are addressed, managed and escalated to the relevant Client Relationship Partner, Team Partner/ Associate, Head of Product, Head of Services, Operations Manager and Practice Governance & Risk
10. Effective allocation of work amongst the team to meet the skills and technical knowledge of the individuals in the team, whilst ensuring work is carried out profitably for the business and client
11. Responsibility for recruitment activities within the team, apart from authorisation, working alongside the Recruitment Team and Operations Manager
12. Implementing the supervisory process colleagues, in line with the strategy agreed with the Team Partner and Operations Manager
13. Responsibility for liaising with the Team Partner and Operations Manager in relation to capacity planning
14. Overall accountability for ensuring colleagues carry out their roles effectively, facilitating cover during absence and supporting colleagues as necessary
15. Responsibility for encouraging innovative ideas and ensuring that a culture of continuous improvement develops
16. Supporting Team Partners with client activities, to include training, strategic assistance, performance reviews and ad-hoc queries.
Who you are
1. Previous team management and / or supervision experience
2. Must have litigation experience
3. A high level of personal compliance with DAC Beachcroft Group protocols and procedures
4. A high level of personal compliance with client SLAs, protocols and KPIs
5. Evidence of achievement of personal financial performance
6. A sound understanding of commercial management and financial delivery
7. Keen eye for detail to ensure data produced by the team is accurate and can be used to identify trends
8. Evidence of strong people management skills including the ability to motivate, coach and mentor team members at all levels
9. Organised and able to handle multiple demands and deadlines simultaneously
10. Able to communicate confidently orally and in writing at all levels
