Main Responsibilities
The purpose of the role is to manage the operational delivery of IT Services, ensuring they are fit for purpose, secure, and compliant with standards. The role involves managing all IT costs, seeking to optimize our spend to deliver effective IT solutions. The Head of IT will work with the CTO to develop the IT Budget and operational plan for the year, and collaborate with managers across the Group Businesses to ensure IT delivers the correct service levels and supports operational plans.
1. Manage the IT Service Desk, ensuring quality service to users.
2. Manage the IT Budget and review suppliers to ensure the use of effective technologies.
3. Manage the IT Manager and other IT team members.
4. Ensure compliance with standards such as ISO27001, Cyber Essentials+, NHS DSPT, NHS DCB1596.
5. Oversee the implementation of IT Infrastructure and Systems in collaboration with the Head of Development and Project Managers.
6. Provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities for the team.
7. Collaborate with Managers across the Business to ensure IT operational delivery, including system uptime, and support business objectives.
8. Support the IT Project Manager to deliver continuous improvements in systems and processes.
9. Ensure an optimal Backup Strategy and Disaster Planning.
10. Represent IT in external audits.
Experience and Skills Required
* Previous experience at a Head of IT level.
* At least 3 years as Head of Infrastructure or similar senior IT management role.
* Leadership and team management skills.
* Experience in budget and cost management.
* Knowledge of regulatory compliance and risk management.
* Business relationship management skills.
* Experience with technology deployment.
* Change management expertise.
* Ideally, experience managing an Azure environment, multi-site locations, and field-based staff.
* Healthcare or Logistics background is preferred.
Qualifications
* A degree in IT or Computer Science, or equivalent qualifications.
* Cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP or CISM.
* Networking certifications such as CCNA or CCNP.
* Experience with DEV/OPS and CI/CD processes.
* ITIL certification.
* Technical expertise with the ability to oversee IT projects from planning to delivery within budget and timelines.
* Ability to align IT initiatives with broader business goals and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
* Decisiveness and confidence in making informed decisions under pressure.
